Pre-injection Suitability Consultation

Joint injections are a fantastic treatment option for many patients. In your pre-injection suitability consultation Dr Wilson will discuss your symptoms, undertake a thorough examination, review any special investigations you have had completed, and discuss your suitability for injection, in addition to keeping you fully informed of the procedure itself.

In some instances, joint injections may not be the most suitable treatment for your condition in which case Dr Wilson will endeavour to advise you of your next steps, and if appropriate arrange an onward referral.

Medical History

Self-referring patients will need to bring an up-to-date medical summary printout from your GP practice, including all current medications, to your pre-injection suitability appointment as this information is essential to ensure treatment is provided safely and appropriately.  Private services are unable to access the NHS database.

Radiographs/X-Rays

Radiographs, commonly known as x-rays, provide important information about your joint in addition to your symptoms and examination findings. Prior to joint injection we will require an up to date x-ray of the affected joint(within last 12 months). If you have already had an x-ray through your GP or other health provider please bring a copy of the report to your pre-injection suitability appointment to avoid disappointment and delay; as a private service we cannot access your NHS records including x-ray reports. If you have not already had a reported x-ray these can be ordered in the pre injection suitability consultation, but this will be through by an independent provider and subject to their private fees.
